This album has been widely acclaimed and is often referred to by fans as "filmic" and as music that creates landscapes. As always Mark's guitar playing paints vivid pictures and compelling musical stories. Very much an ensemble album this is music of places and atmospheres. Mark and the other members of the group paint vivid pictures and tell compelling musical stories. Each track tells as story of a different place, a different time, another stop along a journey. The group features Mark's long time musical writing partner, keyboardist René von Grünig. René composed a number of the tracks on the album as well as co-producing the album with Mark. The other musicians on the album include, trumpet and fluegel horn player Christioph Leistner, bassist Christian Kuntner and Drummer Roberto Di Martino. This is the group which Mark has been touring with over the last five years. Liquid Maps is a unique listening experience, an album that discerning listeners and guitar enthusiasts alike should not miss.
